Rockets Continue Poor Play, Extend Losing Streak to 5 Games

After showing so much promise in the first half of the season, the Houston Rockets are starting to play up to, or down to, their preseason expectations. There is not much effort being shown by players, and there is no consistency whatsoever except from Luis Scola.

Houston was absolutely¬†embarrassed¬†in Toronto Wednesday night as their losing streak was extended to 5 games. For the second straight game, Kevin Martin was pulled mid third quarter, and did not return to the game. Lowry was a game-time decision due to illness, and the way he played, he might as well have sat this one out. Dalembert continued his surprisingly good offensive play since calling a players-only team meeting a few days ago, but he only grabbed 6 boards, and seemed winded. Not surprisingly considering the way he’s been playing lately. The only bright spot for Houston was Chandler Parsons who had 19 points and had a decent all around game. He was the only player that seemed like he wanted to win. The Rockets bench did do a decent job of cutting a 17 point lead down to 4, but once again the Rockets inability to finish games cost them dearly as they ended up losing 116-98.

With this 5 game losing streak coming right before the trade deadline, you have to wonder how this changes the front office’s approach. Had the Rockets continued their first half play, I didn’t see much change coming. Now however, perhaps everybody is tradable except Kyle Lowry. This much is known though…Change is definitely needed.
