Rose Shoots Bucks Down at the Buzzer

Derrick Rose held for the last shot in a 104-104 tie game against the Milwaukee Bucks and then stepped up and hit a long two point jump shot as time expired to give the Bulls a 106-104 victory over the Bucks on Wednesday. Rose messed around and almost got a triple double falling two rebounds short with a stat line of 30 points 11 assists and 8 rebounds. Rose did not have the best shooting night only going 8-22 from the floor but he did go a perfect 14-14 from the free throw line, and the Bulls only made 15 total free throws for the whole game (15-17). Joakim Noah also produced a stellar stat line going for 20 points and 10 boards to help the Bulls in the rebounding department and out-rebound their opponent once again. The Bulls pulled together a strong team effort once again, and Derrick Rose was there to lead the charge and show that the Bulls can win a close game. The starters all had at least 7 points and Taj Gibson continued his strong play off of the bench with 10 points with 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. As for the Milwaukee Bucks they played a very good game, for the most part, shooting 47.7% from the floor but the Bulls shot 51.8% but they fell short in their effort as Rose made them pay with his shot as time expired.

The Bulls allowed 104 points tonight which is unusual for them as they are second in the NBA, behind Philadelphia, for points against only allowing 87.9 points per game. However, they did score 106 points which is a little over 8 points more than their 97.6 points per game average, which is tied for seventh in the NBA. This Bulls effort and win was mostly an outcome due to the production of the starters, only getting 22 bench points of 106 total. Granted the Bulls starters played most of the game and the bench minutes were limited, for the most part, but when the players get called upon to go in the game they need to take better advantage than what they did in today’s game.

The Bulls improved their league leading record to 33-8 after tonight’s close victory over the Bucks. The Bulls have continued to impress on both the defensive and offensive side of the ball and I look for that to continue as long as they play as hard and as smart as they can and continue to minimize their turnovers, currently fourth in the league for least amount of turnovers committed per game.

The Bulls are a testament to what a team is, they know who their leader is and the go to guy in clutch situations, each player knows their role and they usually stay in their roles and do not try to do too much. As long as each player continues to accept their role the Bulls will be okay and be on their way to a deep playoff run.
