The Chiefs made some noise today by signing free-agent running back Peyton Hillis.
The contract is for one year and $3 million. Not a whole lot of money for the man who was on last year’s Madden cover.
Hillis is coming off a disappointing season in which he missed six games and was subject to a large amount of scrutiny. If he is able to get back to the level he was at in 2010, when he ran for 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns, the Chiefs will have a very dangerous backfield.
He’ll definitely add depth behind Jamaal Charles, who missed almost the entire 2011 season. Hillis will also be reunited with offensive coordinator Brian Daboll as he attempts to revive his career.
