Here’s this week’s What It Means:
1) Congrats to Luke Donald for hitting a fantastic 7-iron on the first playoff hole and sinking the short putt to win the Transitions Championship in a four-man playoff.
Donald goes back to number one in the world with the win and just puts himself in position, once again, with a win under his belt this year to make that push for a major. Augusta could be his…watch out folks.
2) Ernie Els’ putter let him down again. The miss at 16. The miss at 18 to drop him out of the playoff. He seemed CRUSHED in his interview with Steve Sands afterwards. Ernie’s putter will decides what he does next and if he ever wins another major again. He CAN do it — he’s hitting the ball great — but needs to make the putts.
3) Tiger Woods has chosen to play both the Tavistock Cup and Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill this week. Seven straight days of golf. Too much on a recovering Achilles? We’ll see.
It might be a mistake, and if it is, The Masters might be at risk.
