Bulls Take the Magic Out of Orlando

The Chicago Bulls defeated the Orlando magic in a lopsided 85-59 victory on Monday night. Carlos Boozer led the Bulls in the victory with a stat line of 24 points and 13 rebounds with 4 steals. The 13 rebounds helped add to the 48 total rebounds that the Bulls collected compared to the 38 that the Magic had. Derrick Rose was once again held out of action but the Bulls did not need him in this game anyways as their defense was solid and John Lucas stepped up with 20 points off of the bench in the point guard role, out producing C.J. Watson who started and had only 1 point. Other than Boozer and Lucas the Bulls had one more player in double figures and that was Luol Deng with 14 points. The Magic were once again led by Dwight Howard who put up 18 points and 12 rebounds as well as Ryan Anderson who had 10 points, and they were the only two players on double figures for them.

The Bulls didn’t light up the scoreboard in this game only shooting 44.3% from the floor but it is not hard to pick up the victory when your opponent only puts 59 points up on the scoreboard. The Bulls held the Magic to 35.3% shooting from the floor and the Magic struggled mightily at the free throw line going just 7-18 at the charity strike. The Magic’s struggles tonight can be contributed to tough defense by the Bulls, poor shooting, and just having an awful offensive game all around.

The Bulls will not always play teams that only score 59 points so they are going to have to hit their shots when open and don’t force shots. Chicago has a very good defense and that is what is going to help lead them to many victories and keep them in contention for the coveted NBA Championship Trophy.

Tom Thibodeau also reached a landmark for his career tonight becoming the fastest coach to win 100 games in NBA history. This team has been very good under his reign as head coach and it will continue to be that way for as long as he is there, which seems like it will be a very long time.
