Muy Frio…Magic’s cold shooting gives Bulls 85-59 win

Los Bulls defeated El Magic 85-59 on another Latin inspired basketball evening in the NBA.

Chicago played without Derrick Rose for the fourth straight game and avenged a loss to Orlando that occurred 10 days earlier with the blow out victory.

Carlos Boozer played inspired basketball and was the best player on the court all night, leading the Bulls with 24 points and 13 rebounds. John Lucas sparked the Bulls with 20 points off the bench as the Bulls cruised to an easy victory on the Magic’s home floor.

Chicago’s defense kung-fu gripped the Orlando offense leaving Dwight Howard (18 points 12 rebounds) and Ryan Anderson (10 points) as the only Magic players to reach double figures.

Orlando managed a paltry 35% shooting buoyed with 18 turnovers and looked out of sync all game. Even Boozer who shined offensively understood what the difference in the game was without their reigning MVP.

“The real story honestly is our defense, our defense was … that was probably one of the best performances we’ve had this season. It was fitting because they kicked our butt in Chicago, (and) got a big win. For us to come back and do this … it’s a big win for us.”

The Magic have now lost 2 straight and 3 of their 4 last games. Having played the two best teams in the Eastern Conference (Miami and Chicago) on back to back nights has taken its toll and given the team a dose of reality medicine.

The ironic thing is that many credit the two  most recent wins the Magic enjoyed over Chicago and Miami as the the reason Dwight Howard opted in and was not traded last week. Luckily, Howard no longer has the opportunity or power to waffle on his decision as the ink is now to paper following back to back losses against those same two opponents.

Quite frankly the Magic were fooling themselves thinking they were as good as the eastern conference elite and these last two games proved it.

Their reward?

More Dwight Howard drama next season despite having his John Hancock on a contract through 2012-2013. Let me be one of the first to say congratulations.
