After Andrew Bynum tried to see if lightning could strike twice from beyond the arch Tuesday night he found himself firmly planted on the Lakers bench. Bynum did hit his first three in his career a couple days prior. Being a Lakers fan this was awesome to see for a couple of reasons. The first reason being that it is a wasted possession, in the NBA every single possession matters and when that kind of shot goes up it is essentially a turnover. The second reason is that it shows Mike Brown is really stepping his game up! We never saw Mike Brown do anything game changing or pot stirring while he had reigns over Lebron James and it is very good to see he is exercising his authority. The shot almost looked like an all star game type stunt to most spectators and that is why Brown benched him. Even Kobe and Pau after the game made it very apparent that Bynum should not be pulling the three ball. Ideally Bynum can shoot those shots in late shot clock situations (such as the shot against Memphis). Otherwise it is a bad decision that has the potential to ruin offensive flow and to an extent team chemistry. I am happy from what I saw Tuesday night from coach Brown and his captains supporting him. Bynum after the game mentioned he will continue to shoot threes which I hope was a comment out of pure frustration otherwise the only shots he will be taking will be in warmup!
