The 5 That Got Away….Nets!!!

Sports are about RELATIONSHIPS. If you’ve ever had that feeling of letting that certain someone go, if you find yourself thinking of the one(s) that got away. Then you can relate in a basketball sense to what the Nets have gone through over the years.

Here are the FIVE players that the Nets let go too soon to other teams.

1. Ryan Anderson – The sharpshooting power forward left New Jersey after his rookie year. Anderson has increased his scoring average from 7.4 in his 1st season to 15.9 points per game in 2011-12. Ryan has also develop into a steady rebounder for his position. The Nets will look to re-acquire Anderson as a free agent this summer.

2. Jordan CrawfordJordan has developed into a reliable scorer throughout his short career. Despite his erratic shot selection, Crawford has become one of the few bright spots on a struggling Wizards team. Jordan has the potential to be a Jason Terry-type player for a winning team.

3. Kyle Korver – This long-range shooter was traded before ever playing a game for the Nets. Kyle has made his career as a three-point threat who helps spread the floor for D. Rose & the Chicago Bulls. Korver averages over 40% from the 3-point line and he once shot a career high 53% in a season.

4. Anthony Parker – This journeyman has established himself as a solid NBA player throughout his nine seasons in the league. Parker is deadly shooter who can play the two, three or four positions. A.P. is a career 40% three-point shooter & around 80% from the free-throw stripe.

5. Derrick Favors – This young power forward was traded for Deron Williams last season. Derrick has formed into a part-time starter for the Jazz. Favors had shown glimpses of his potential to become a monster in the paint for Utah.

Now, grant it none of these players are superstars. Yet, these FIVE players could have helped the Nets form better teams in the past few seasons. Still, Nets fans shouldn’t live with regrets about what could have been.
