Hawks down Charlotte

The schedule maker finally took a break from beating up the Hawks. After a brutal seven-games in nine-day stretch, Atlanta had two consecutive off days, and the home team utilized the precious gift in grand fashion, blitzing the Bobcats, 120-93. Atlanta used a 34-19 second quarter to pull away and then coasted in the rout. Josh Smith finished with 24 as six players had double figures, including subs Jannero Pargo (12), and Willie Green (17). (Quick note about Charlotte. They’re still at 7 wins for the season, will they reach double digits? Thoughts? Bets?) Atlanta is now 32-23 as the schedule hits the home stretch. That translates into a half-game behind Orlando in the standings and a full game behind the Pacers for the fourth playoff spot. Either way, it looks like these three teams (plus Boston) will play each other in the first round of the playoffs. There are 11 games left, and for once, the schedule gives Atlanta a break. There are only 2 more back-to-backers left, plus games with Charlotte, 2 with Toronto, and 2 with Detroit (Detroit and Charlotte are the next series) There is also two games remaining with Boston, plus another with Orlando. Those contests will be pivotal as Atlanta tries to get home court advantage in the playoffs.
