“BS” no more…Van Gundy confirms Howard wants him out

The drama just continues to manifest in Orlando.  One day after a story broke that Dwight Howard does want head coach Stan Van Gundy to be fired [1], Van Gundy confirmed the report after shoot around Thursday afternoon.

When Van Gundy was asked how he knows it’s true, he said, “I was told it was true by people in our management right from the top.”

Van Gundy later goes on to explain his reasoning for confirming the story by simply saying that he is “uncomfortable with bulls%*t”.

Classic SVG.

Then the seemingly unthinkable happens as Howard enters the media the session and puts his arm around Van Gundy in a feeble attempt to do damage control for his rapidly deteriorating image. Van Gundy took off as if the grim reaper himself entered the room as he wanted nothing to do with the “show” Howard was about to put on.

As standoffish as one could be Howard uses semantics and sarcasm to deflect questions about the validity of the story, not that we should expect anything other than that from Howard now.

They key here is he never denies the report flat out. Not once does he say I did not ask for Stan Van Gundy to be fired.

Instead its “C’mon man”, “Who said that”, ” I didn’t hear that”, etc..

Things have gone from bad to worse to horrific in Orlando. At this point Van Gundy has to be let go and not because he is a bad coach.

The circus has to end and pieces need to be brought in to fix what is broken. Clearly Van Gundy is not a part of the Magic’s future so it is time to move on.

He could resign before the season or right after. He could, but I think he is too proud to let Howard or the organization”push him out” like that. He is fully within his rights to force management to make a clear decision even if he already knows what that decision is going to be.

Van Gundy is tired of the bs and so are Orlando fans. Give this man of principle an honorable discharge and move on to the business of losing Howard in free agency next season.

And that’s no bs.  Otis Smith your on deck.
