Suns officially knock Blazers from playoff picture

My apologies for the lack of blogs these last three games. I have been out of town and unable to watch the games. Due to that this blog entry will be brief. I still kept a close eye on the score for each game, though, and can say without hesitation these last few games have been painful.

Let’s start with the most important aspect to come out of the last week. The Blazers are now mercifully officially out of the 2012 playoffs. There are only four games left, and although I’m dreading the months ahead where there is nothing but baseball, I’m happy this dreadful season has come to an end. And again at least we aren’t Bobcat fans.

So after back to back heartbreaking losses at the buzzer, including possibly the worst defensive last second possession ever against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, the Blazers looked to play spoiler against the Phoenix suns who are sitting in the eighth spot right now. That did not work out too well for Portland. Giving up almost a hundred points before the fourth quarter even started, it was clear who was playing for their playoff lives. The Suns shot a season high 60% from the field, and won going away 107-125. Obviously contributing to the blowout loss was Portland not playing LaMarcus Aldridge, Nicolas Batum, or Raymond Felton. Jamal Crawford and J.J. Hickson tried to make it a game each scoring 22 points, but it was a one sided affair from the start. The Blazers dropped their road record to 8-22. Only Sacramento has fewer road wins with five.

Again, sorry for the lack of entries recently. I’ll be back home tomorrow and will definitely be finishing out the season. Up next is the Utah Jazz on Wednesday for the last home game. It’s tough to get excited about meaningless games, but it’s a great time to see what some of the young guys can do (while also adding some precious ping pong balls for the draft). See you all Wednesday.
