Darvish Too Much For Tigers

The Texas Rangers picked up where they left off last October with an absolute drubbing of the Tigers 10-3 tonight at Comerica Park. The Rangers had 19 hits and 6 walks with every Ranger batter getting at least one hit.
Japanese import Yu Darvish stifled the Tigers bats for 6 1/3 innings allowing just two hits and one earned run. It was his longest outing of the season, and his best. Darvish threw 121 pitches on his way to his second win of the season.
Tigers starter Adam Wilk (0-2) gave up 10 hits, and two earned runs before Collin Balester took over in the fifth inning. The Tigers bullpen struggled mightily tonight with Balester and Daniel Schlereth combining to give up seven hits, and six earned runs in 3 2/3 innings. Schlereth now has an ERA of 12.60, and has not been effective at all this season.
The lone bright spot for the Tigers line-up tonight was Don Kelly. Kelly was 2-4, and drove in all three Tigers runs on the evening. Of the five Tigers hits, three came in the eighth inning off of Rangers reliever Robbie Ross.
The series continues tomorrow night at 7:05pm with the Rangers starting Matt Harrison (2-0, 0.64 ERA, 1.07 WHIP) against Rick Porcello (1-0, 1.84 ERA, 0.89 WHIP).
