The University of Tennessee football team held their annual Orange Vs. White spring game today. While this game means about as much to the casual fan as preseason in the NFL, to a diehard fan such as myself it is the first look at the college football team that will determine my moods and thoughts on life for the next year. The Orange team pulled out the victory 17-14, but like I said this victory really means nothing and in reality Tennessee won today.
I was only able to see highlights as my region, Michigan, wasn’t airing the game on TV. What I did see was Tyler Bray looking sharp after an injury that slowed down his very productive season last year. I also got to see Junior running back Rajion Neal run all over the white defense. If he can have that kind of production during the season on a consistent basis it should help a running game that was last in the SEC last season.
Another bright spot is the fact that Tennessee has 19 starters from last season returning this season, the most in the SEC. I am not going to through a lot of stats into this blog or make it terribly long. I will close this by saying that I am excited for this season and I am as confident as I can be that Derek Dooley will finally have his first winning season as the head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers.
