Kansas City Chiefs Top Draft Needs

1. Nose Tackle: In a 3-4 defensive scheme a solid nose tackle is vital.  The Chiefs are lacking here and need to shore up the position with a pick in this draft.

2. Offensive Line: They could desperately use a left tackle or guard.  Branden Albert has been playing LT but could move over to guard if they select a tackle, or they could go with one of the most sure things in this draft, Stanford guard David DeCastro.

3. Inside Linebacker: Derrick Johnson gets the job done, but he needs someone else next to him who can make a game-changing play.  If the Chiefs were to take an ILB, possibly Boston College’s Luke Kuechly, with the 11th overall pick their defense would be completely revamped.

4. Running Back: There is a big question mark at this position.  Kansas City made moves in the offseason by signing Peyton Hillis, but no one knows what Jamaal Charles will be able to do once he’s back on the field.  It’s a good idea to spend one of their picks on a young RB who can add depth to the backfield.

The Chiefs made a number of key acquisitions in free agency, including multiple veterans who will be asked to step in and make an immediate impact.  Kansas City still has some holes even with all the injured guys coming back, but they can fill those with a solid draft.
