The draft has come and gone, and now its time to recap and review the draft of the 49ers. Here’s who San Fransisco selected:
Round 1: WR A.J. Jenkins (Illinois)
Round 2: RB LaMichael James (Oregon)
Round 4: OG Joe Looney (Wake Forest)
Round 5: OLB Darius Fleming (Notre Dame)
Round 6: S Trent Robinson (Michigan St.) C Jason Slowey (Western Oregon)
Round 7 DE Cam Johnson (Virginia)
It was a very vinilla draft for San Fran. I can’t see a lot of these guys making immediate contributions to the team this season, unless it’s on special teams. I can see Jenkins becoming a solid slot WR, under the tutelage of Moss and Manningham. I also can see LaMichael James contributing as a 3rd down back this season. The other picks should provide depth to an already solid roster.
The Sanfransico 49ers didn’t shake the world with their picks by any stretch of the imagination. At least they added guys that can bring speed and explosion to the depth chart.
