It came as no shock to anyone that the Redskins drafted QB Robert Griffin III in the first round. Luck was announced to go to the Colts the day before so it was inevitable. RG3 has a slogan that will become huge with Redskins fans, old and young, that he wore on his burgundy and gold socks on Thursday night: “Go Catch Your Dream.” People are trying to buy these now.
The Redskins wouldn’t pick again until round 3, from the Bills, and they chose Josh LeRibeus, a G from SMU.
In round 4, this is where all the comments will start from. The Redskins picked QB Kirk Cousins of Michigan St. People will say that the team spent so much to get RG3, why another QB? Shanahan said it best that he was picking players, not picking positions. Cousins was available and he jumped at it. The Redskins had veteran Rex Grossman for another year and John Beck as backup, so now they have their star in RG3 and great young backup to meld as well. This is what everyone has been complaining about so now they got 2. Their second pick in the 4th round went to Keenan Robinson, OLB from Texas.
In the 5th round, they picked another G from Iowa in Adam Gettis.
In the 6th round they picked up 2 players: Alfred Morris, RB from Florida Atlantic and Tom Compton, T from South Dakota.
The last round they picked up their last 2 players: Richard Crawford, DB from SMU and Jordan Bernstine, CB from Iowa.
There is life back in these Washington Redskins fans. I have already purchased my tickets for the home opener on September 23rd. It will be an RG3 show and am so excited for the season to begin.

Written by Mercedes Green
I lived in Greene County Virginia for about 5 years of my childhood. This span of time was enough to imprint the love of the Washington Redskins (and hate of the Dallas Cowboys) into my life forever, even though I am Canadian and still live in Canada. I am in no way an expert on sports, football, or even the Redskins, but I do absolutely adore them, their fans and their home state(s). My favourite Redskin is and will always be Darrell Green (not because we share the same last name lol). I've adored Chris Cooley since he joined the team from the 2004 draft and love London Fletcher. Hail to the Redskins! See you October 30th in my home town of Toronto.
