A pitcher that was born in Habakino, Japan never thought he would fulfill his dream as a major league pitcher. Yu Darvish standing at 6’5 weighing in at 216 pounds has seemingly impacted the Texas Rangers pitching rotation since the start of the season. He has a stunning 4-0 record in 5 starts to come out with a bang to start out his career as a Major League pitcher. In 33 innings pitch he has 33 strikeouts with an ERA of 2.18. Him being only 25 means he has many years to come to be a big impact for the Texas Rangers.
My only question is was he worth the money? I believe we could have got him for a smaller amount but what excites me is that he might have a chance to become a feared pitcher in the game of baseball. With a mid to upper 90′s fastball and an above average curveball. He makes hitters ground out and hit pop flies in effortless fashion. Even though his first inning ever was terrible, he has looked like a true pitcher ever since then.
In his last start against the Blue Jays he put in 7 innings of hardwork only allowing four hits with only one earned run and 9 strikeouts. He looks like he will become a big threat in the Major League and might be able to put up a run for the Cy Young Award if he keeps pitching like he is at the moment. I am excited to see what’s to come for this young 25 year old pitcher. I am sure his career will be an exciting ride for him.
