While the Angels are seeing red, Abreu searches for bluer skies

So let me get this right, Bobby Abreu was upset at his lack of playing time with the Angels? Tired of hearing his complaints, the Angels finally let the guy go.

So what does Abreu do? He signs with the Dodgers as a backup outfielder. Did they add a DH in the National League?

And where will Abreu play, exactly. Can’t see him replacing Ethier or Kemp, so that eliminates right and center. I guess he’ll split time in left with TG Jr and Juan Rivera.

And what is it with the Dodgers signing every player that used to play in Anaheim. First, it was the seriously washed up Garret Anderson 2 years ago. They acquired Rivera last year, and signed Adam Kennedy in the off-season.

Now it’s Abreu’s turn to wear Dodger Blue. (0-2 on Friday)

I’m not saying it’s a bad move for the Dodgers, it just doesn’t make sense to me from Abreu’s standpoint. Here’s a guy that complained about his lack of playing time, then signed with a team that isn’t guaranteeing him any more playing time.

One good thing, as far as the Dodgers are concerned. Abreu’s main salary is being picked up by the Halos. The Dodgers will play the guy a minimal amount of money to the guy, so it’s a win-win, I guess.

Do you think the Angels will get back at the Dodgers by signing Mike MacDougal.

That could happen, but what did happen is the Angels getting a reliever from the Padres.

They didn’t get Huston Street, who I like, they got Ernesto Frieri, who can’t be any worse than the guys the Halos have thrown out there to this point.

To get Frieri, the Angels gave up a minor league pitcher and a guy you’ve heard of in Alexi Amarista.

Get used to the Angels and Padres doing business together. Jerry DiPoto and Josh Byrnes of San Diego worked together the past couple years so they are very familiar with each other.
