San Diego Padres new closer Huston Street has been placed on the 15-day DL with a strain near his pitching shoulder. Street has been a great addition to an already stellar bullpen of the Padres. Street has not had too many opportunities this year due to the lack of runs scored, but when he has had the chance he has been darn near flawless. In 9.1 innings, Street has 4/4 saves, 13:2 K:BB ratio, 0.93 ERA and a 0.52 WHIP. The pitching staff and bullpen has been pretty much the only bright spot the Padres have had this season as they own the 2nd worst record in the Majors.
Street joins a plethora of Padres pitchers on the DL including upcoming ace Corey Luebke who was having an outstanding start to his young season on a team with a negative run differential. A lot of experts claim that the Padres have one of the best, if not the best farm system in all of baseball, with five pitchers now on the DL what better time then now to see if that prediction is correct.
