Not as bright as one might think. A breakdown of the Pats schedule.
Game 1: Tennessee Titans
Chris Johnson did not produce like he once did. Matt Hassleback is aging. The Titans were 17th in overall offense. But they averaged more points than their opponents on average and ended the season just outside the playoffs at 9-7. This will be a good opener in LP Field and the Titans will put on a good show. But the Pats will squeak it out in the end. 21-17. 1-0.
Game 2: Arizona Cardinals
Kevin Kolb was injured most of the season. If Arizona picks up Brandon Lloyd it will be fun to see them throwing it around. They will be feeling good coming off a win over Seattle, but it will not be enough. They will have their home opener in Foxborough and Brady will be lighting up the field with his “newish” receivers. Final 28-27. Patriots 2-0.
Game 3: Baltimore Ravens
This game is going to be personal and the NFL world saw what the Ravens do when they take things personal. The ravens beat down the Steelers in their first meeting after they beat them in the playoffs. They will be feeling confident knowing that they “should have” beat the Pats. They stopped Brady and got slot of big plays on offense. Pats lose big, as they seem to do a few times every year. 28-10. 2-1.
Game 4: Buffalo Bills
A division game is always intense, which is why no one should right the Bills off, especially in New York. They etched out the Pats 34-31 in their last meeting. I think that Fitzpatrick gets up for his games against New England and their steady running game will test the revamped defense. It is at home and the Pats will be beaten up from the Ravens. Bills rack up a useless victory. 24-21. 2-2.
Game 5: Denver Broncos
Circle this game ladies and gentlemen. The new look of the Brady/Manning rivalry will be shown. However, Denver will be beat down. Despite what Peyton can do we can’t forget that Brady set the NFL Postseason first Hals TD record against this Broncos defense. Manning will be limping in at 2-2, each loss to Pittsburgh and Houston, and Bellichick will put him in check. Big numbers and a big win for the Pats. 35-17. 3-2.
Game 6: Seattle Seahawks
The Patriot players will have to be slapped in the face a few times before this game. Reminding them to not overlook the Seahawks. Last year the Giants overlooked them and it almost cost them a playoff berth. Matt Flynn is not good enough and might not be playing this game. Whether it be Jackson or Flynn throwing to Golden Tate, the passing game is not going to be pretty. However, Marshawn Lynch will be able to keep the game at a steady pace and keep Brady off the field. Seattle will put a valiant effort. Pats win 28-20. 4-2.
Game 7: New York Jets
With all the talk of Tebow everyone forgot that Sanchez has made it to the playoffs every. Year in the league, except last year, and now no one can remember his name. It is suspected that Rex Ryan wants to run the option with Tebow, running back Ganaway, wide receiver Hill, and Guard Robert Griffon. All drafted from schools that run the option. But this point does not matter. By week seven they will be back with traditional offense and Sanchez. Tebow can stay lined up for punts. In the end the Jets defense will keep the score low, but their offense will not be able to do anything. Pats win 24-10. 5-2.
Game 8: St. Louis Rams
The Rams will be riding high going into this game. They will probably be over five hundred and will be at home. Chris Givens will give the Pats problems and Jackson will slow the game down. The Rams picked up a lot of rookies this offseason, the most in the NFL, and who knows who all those players will pan out, but in the end, Brady will be too much. 24-21 Pats win. 6-2.
Game 9: bye.
Game 10: Buffalo Bills
This game will be different because it is in Foxborough, but it will remain the game of the week. Both teams will walk into this game at 6-2 and it will be a must win for both. This game will be chippy on both sides and some big plays will blow up, but two things will come into play. The experience of the Pats in big games and the bye week. Pats barley win, 28-27. 7-2.
Game 11: Indianapolis Colts
This will not be as hyped up as most of these games, but people will be excited to see if Luck can compete against the hated Patriots like Manning did. The Patriots are the Colts most hated rival and this will be a huge measuring stick for Luck. Luck will put on a show against the still weak secondary, but New England will put the Colts in their place. 31-27 Pats. 8-2.
Game 12: New York Jets
The Jets will come into this game near five hundred and with low playoff hopes. The split in the team and fan base is going to throw the team off their game. This, along with the option running, will be no good when facing the Steelers and Texans. Unless, Rex is a secret offensive genius, the Jets have no shot at beating the Pats in 2012. 24-10. 9-2.
Game 13: Miami Dolphins
It is crazy to think that the Pats and Fish do not play until week thirteen. The Pats will be fighting with Denver and Baltimore for number one seeding overall and the Dolphins will be fighting for a potential wildcard spot. I think Moore comes into this game as the starter and the Dolphins will sit at 6-5, pretty much tied with the Bills and Jets. The Fish always play the Pats tough and it will be a hard fought battle, but Pats come up on top. 21-13. 10-2.
Game 14: Houston Texans
This game, in WEEK 14, will be a test as to how playoff ready the Patriots are. It is not impossible that this game will five home advantage to the team in the playoffs. Schuab will be healthy, A. Johnson will play all year, and Foster will be doing his thing. I think the Texans walk in with swagger and ten wins. But the Patriots will not be battle tested and will not have enough for this upcoming team. Huge win for Texans in Foxborough. 27-17. 10-3.
Game 15: San Francisco 49er’s
Another tough game for the Patriots as they try to achieve home field. The problem is, the 49er’s will be looking to do the same thing. This will be the second game in a row that that Pats will have to face potential Super Bowl champ. Gore is going to get his yards and the San Fran defense will beat up on Brady. it is going to be a hard fought game, but San Fran will not be in their second meaningful game and the Pats will loose two in a row. 21-20. 10-4.
Game 16: Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars will be an average team with an average record. Jones-Drew is exciting and is poised to have his best season in a while. I have no clue who the QB will be, but I do think Blackmon will help Jones-Drew with blocking, lead rookies in receptions, and have, at least, ten TD’s. It will be a fun game to watch. pats win 27-21. 11-4.
Game 17: Miami Dolphins
The Fins may need this win to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Dolphins will walk in at 8-7 and, with another win, have a chance for the wild card. They are going to put everything they have into this game. Unfortunately, so will the Pats. They will not want to go into the playoffs 1-3 in their last four games so they will see it as a must win. Also, they will probably need this win for a first round bye. Sorry Fins no playoffs this year. 24-17. 12-4.
Round One Playoffs: Beat Denver 30-24.
AFC Championship: Lose to Houston Texans. 24-23.
