After Evan Longoria went down for 4-8 weeks with an injury many people though that this would hurt the Rays to the point that they would start to drop off a bit. Usually, when a team loses their best player, you hope somebody could step up. That hasn’t quite happened but the Rays continue to be somewhat consistent despite losing 2 out of 3 in the Bronx. Their starters have still been doing the job for the most part but the offense has to pick it up. With Longoria out, guys like Carlos Pena, BJ Upton, and Matt Joyce have to hit better. Also, Matt Moore, who pitches today in Baltimore, has to pitch better and give the Rays a good outing because the Orioles are neck and neck with the Rays right now so a good outing would go a long way towards creating some seperation, not to mention helping Moore’s confidence.
