OPEN LETTER TO DWYANE WADE

Posted By Sean Eckhardt On May 18 2012 @ 8:13 pm In Miami Heat | 2 Comments

Come back.  The Miami Heat need the real Dwyane Wade to re-emerge in round 2 of the NBA Playoffs.  The national media continues to call this LeBron’s team, but people in South Florida know better.  This has been, is, and will be your team Mr. Wade, but you have to come back.  Critics like Dan LeBatard and Charles Barkley say that Eric Spoelstra is trapped in 2006 and thinking of your performance in the NBA Finals against Dallas, which was epic.  Those same guys are forgetting that last year in the Finals against the Mavericks you were on your way to your second Finals MVP award, if only James had shown up at all after Game 1 of that series.  While defending Bron the other night Barkley stated that Wade didn’t play well in the Finals either last year.  Apparently Sir Charles lost part of his memory along with all of that weight.  DWade, you led all players with almost 27ppg and shot over 54% from the floor.  Hey Chuck, another fact is that if LeBron scores more than 8 points in Game 4(Wade 32 points), Miami goes up 3-1 and almost certainly wins the series.  Dwyane, we don’t need you to be 2006 Wade, 2011 Wade will be just fine.

As for your arguement with Eric Spoelstra, who cares.  You and Eric have worked closely since your rookie year in 2003, and anyone in any job knows that the closer you are to fellow workers, the more empassioned conflicts will be.  Phil Jackson will never coach the Miami Heat.  Pat Riley is not going to hire one of his arch-rivals to coach this team.

Hey Dwyane, this is your city and your team.  Be the leader and don’t worry about how gifted your best friend is.  Coaches and players, past and present are all too guilty of that.  Be yourself and beat Indiana by any means necessary.  Don’t sweat the 5 point performance in Game 2 and don’t pout when you don’t get a call.  The refs have not been kind, but I think part of that is just officials trying not to call to much on teams playing the Heat.  Many people are shouting two words; trade Wade.  Instead, I think Miami should follow Wade.
