Braves take 2 from Rays

Tim Hudson allowed four hits in under 8 innings, while Damon Ross belted a solo home run (his second on the year) as Atlanta won the series with Tampa by taking a 2-0 victory. The win was iced with a fluke play. With the bases loaded and two out in the eighth, a lined shot by Luke Scott nailed Carlos Pena while he was in the basepath. Pena was ruled out and Craig Kimbrel came on in the ninth to notch save #13. Hudson upped his mark to 3-1. David Price took the loss, dropping his mark to 6-3. As for the NL East race, the Nats won their game over Baltimore, keeping the Braves’ lead at 1.5.
As expected, Chipper Jones sat out the game to rest his bruised ankle. Word is he’ll be back in the line-up for the start of tomorrow’s four-game set at Cincinnati. Juan Francisco started in place of the retiring star, and went 0-4. Other hitting stars: Martin Prado went 2-4 to raise his average to .323, while Freddie Freeman went 1-4. His problems was with his eyes. He had dry-eye syndrome the whole weekend, and tried everything from new contacts, glasses, and drops to fix it. He played through it and was able to generate some offense. Hopefully, it will be fixed once the team gets to Ohio.
