Mark one for the Angels

Oh man did my heart drop after watching Jered Weaver walk off the mound after just 12 pitches. I was feeling a bit better when it was announced that Weaver suffered a lower back injury.

I hope that’s all.

It was nice to see Torii Hunter back in the dugout. He doesn’t appear to have that little kick in his step, which is understandable.

He had to be a bit happier after Mark Trumbo hit a walk off home run in the bottom of the 9th, giving the Halos a hard-earned 9-8 win.

Trumbo’s shot was a no doubter, carrying deep over the wall in left.

Angel fans, dressed as Yankee fans, cheered loudly when the ball left the park.

Up to that point, it was a back and forth game.

Really, I thought this would be an Angels trouncing after the New Yorkers went up 3-0 after half an inning.

However, the Angels showed the same resiliency they showed over their past trip, battling back for 4 in the bottom of the 1st.

Kendrys Morales is heating up, going 5-9, with a home run and 5 RBI over the past 2 games. To me, he is the key to the Angels season.

When the Angels offense is clicking like it was on Monday, it is fun to watch. The Halos pounded out 15 hits, with every player reaching base at least once.

The Angels offense was clicking, but the defense was dreadful. 3 errors for the a team that prides itself on being tight with the glove.

The pitching after Weaver left was passable. 5 guys threw innings for the Halos, with everyone except Jordan Walden giving up one run. Walden, who threw 2 innings for the first time in his career, got the win.

Best thing was the Angels didn’t have to use Ernesto Frieri and Scott Downs. They’ll nee them the next couple days.

That is, unless the Angels offense continues to stay hot.
