Mark my words, the Angels are starting to find their rhythm

The Angels are rising, so losing one doesn’t hurt much.
Is there anyone hotter than Mark Trumbo? The man should be pitched around. Thankfully the Yankees never got that memo as Trumbo went deep in all 3 games against the New Yorkers. Add in the one he hit during the last game in Seattle, and Trumbo has gone yard in the last 4 games. He is hitting .520 over his past 6 games.
You know, I think there’ll be a place in baseball for Albert Pujols. Pujols has a hit in 9 of his past 10 games. I think Andy Petitte may have misremembered how to pitch to Sir Albert, who smoked a home run off the guy.
Talking about Petitte, he may have taken a year off, but he still looks like the same guy he has the past 15 years, or so.
With Jered Weaver on the DL, Dan Haren needed to step up. He has in a big way. His last 16 innings, he has allowed only 1 earned run. And he is dominating opponents. It’s one thing to control the Mariners, it’s another to run right through the Yankees.
When he pitches like he can, he doesn’t need many runs. He got 5 as the Angels won game 2, 5-1.
Ervin Santana is another story. Every start is an adventure. On Wednesday, he gave up 5 runs in the 3rd, which included a 2-run shot and a 3-run shot. He threw 48 pitches in the 3rd inning alone. On a good note, Santana only walked one batter. When he is great, he can pitch a no hitter, but when he is off, he can, and will get hit…hard.
The most impressive thing Wednesday was how the Halos battled back by scoring 5 runs in the 4th. A month ago, the game would have been over. Not anymore, as the offense has caught up with the pitching.
Trumbo just flew out to end the game. Angels lost the finale 6-5, but they took 2 of 3 from the Yankees. That loss did snap their 8 game winning streak.
They’ll be trying to start another streak when the Rangers come to town Friday. The Angels trail the Rangers by 5.5 games in the A.L. West.
