If you turned off the channel after 5 innings, you missed quite an Angels game. The Angels battled back to beat the A.L. West nemesis, the Texas Rangers 4-2.
I think the next time sees Mike Trout sees Salt Lake is when he goes to visit the Mormon Tabernacle. That kid is going to man center field for the next 10-15 years. You know Trout is good when a Rangers fan remarked, “Trout is a beast.”
He is. Friday, he was the Angels offense and defense. The 20 year old drove in 3 of the 4 Halo runs, and also made a number of nice grabs in center. The best being in the 8th when he grabbed a hard shot by Elvis Andrus while heading right for the wall.
Remember the last time Jerome Williams faced the Rangers? They beat him like a used rug. 11 hits and 6 earned runs in just over 6 innings in early May. That proved one thing–Williams should only be a starting pitcher. His outing on the May day came in relief after a rain delay ended C.J. Wilson’s night in the 1st inning.
He got a but of revenge tonight, throwing 7 innings of 2-run ball. Williams may be the best find by the Angels in years.
Ernesto Frieri is amazing. I know it can’t last, but right now he is automatic. Frieri has pitched 13 innings for the Halos and has allowed no runs. Even more impressive, he hasn’t allowed a hit either. No runs, no hits, no nothing against the new Halo reliever. He also has 27 strikeouts.
When I saw Jordan Walden warming up in the bottom of the 8th, I felt Mike Sciosica was certifiably insane. Thankfully, he went to Frieri, and that was that.
Angels have won 9 of 10 games, and only trail the Rangers by 4.5 games.

O'kay I'll talk about myself a little. I've been working in the television/radio industry for over 21 years. I started at 2 so I am just a tad over 21 (That is a joke). My career has taken me around and and even out of the United States. Right now I call Vegas home, but I just never know where life will take me next. Until 2002 my irrational love for the California/Anaheim/LAA had taken me down some very dark roads, but with Arte Moreno in charge I finally saw the a light at the end of the road. I really love most every sports and having as much fun as possible.
