Braves finally beat Nats

It took until June, but Atlanta was finally able to defeat Washington. The Braves came away with a 3-2 victory, splitting their 2 game series. (Friday’s game was called on rain – so much for a doubleaheader on the weekend). Tommy Hanson earned the win. He went seven innings as his record went to 6-4. But give him a lot of credit. His outing started with back-to-back homers by Steve Lombardozzi and Bryce Harper. After that he allowed only four hits while striking out six. After getting one in the third, Jason Heyward hit a double with the bases loaded. That belt brought home two, and the Braves were able to hang on for the win. Craig Kimbrel struck out the side in the ninth for the save. Atlanta is now 2 games behind the Nats and Fish in the NL East. And after a day off, the Braves go to Miami for a series. Hopefully, Brian McCann will be behind the plate for it. He got nailed by a pitch from Jonny Ventners in the leg. They got their signals crossed. McCann got a contusion from it and sat as a precaution.
