The ink is finally dry on the deal to bring 21 year-old Eden Hazard to Chelsea FC from Lille of Ligue 1 for a reported 32 million pounds in transfer fees. Hazard agreed to a 5-year contract reportedly paying the dynamic play-maker 150,000 pounds a week.
Hazard chose Chelsea over interest from Manchester United and Manchester City amongst others. The signing was a dramatic statement that owner Roman Abramovich is planning on keeping Chelsea at the top of the Premier League for a long time. Hazard can play in an attacking midfield role or as a wing, both of which Chelsea needs to provide continued service to striker Fernando Torres.
Now Chelsea turns its attention to others in the transfer market as the offseason continues. According to numerous sources in England, the Blues are trying to finalize the deal to bring Brazilian forward Hulk in from FC Porto (Portugal). The club has officially said goodbye in the past couple of weeks to three key contributors: Solomon Kalou, Jose Bosingwa and Didier Drogba. The club will continue to work to try to fill those spots from within and from abroad as the offseason continues.
