Dodgers-Mariners Preview (June 8)
Posted By Taylor Smith On Jun 8 2012 @ 7:46 pm In Los Angeles Dodgers,MLB | No Comments
Following their four-game sweep in Philadelphia, the L.A. Dodgers will take on the Seattle Mariners for three games starting Friday night, wrapping up a 10-game road trip.
The series opener will pit Nate Eovaldi (0-2) against veteran Kevin Millwood (3-5). Eovaldi struggled a bit in his last start against the Rockies, yielding three runs in 5.2 innings while throwing over 100 pitches. Millwood was even worse in his most recent start, allowing four runs while walking five in just four innings in a loss to the White Sox. The Mariners have won just three of his 10 starts so far in 2012.
Seattle is 5-5 in its last 10 games, but will be coming off of an impressive series victory over the Angels during which the normally anemic offense produced 22 runs in three games.
The Dodgers, of course, still boast the best record in Major League Baseball at 37-21, despite the recent rash of injuries. Even with their sweep in Philadelphia, the Dodgers have seen their NL West lead trimmed to just four games with the surging Giants having reeled off an 8-2 record over their last 10.
The Mariners are just 9-13 at home so far this season, and will be starting a nine-game homestand tonight.
Their offense has been absolutely atrocious so far at Safeco Field, where they’re hitting just .193 as a team.
Los Angeles hasn’t recorded a .500-or-better record in interleague play since the 2004 season. This will be their first interleague series in 2012.
First pitch from Millwood will take place at 7:10pm.
