BOSH AND THE HEAT PROVE TO BE TOO MUCH FOR BOSTON

Game 7. Simply knowing that there will be one makes a true sports fan squirm in anticipation of it. Players have dreamed of being that final game hero since they were a child. Unless you’re a fan of the team that loses a Game 7, it is without question the best kind of playoff game to watch, due mainly to the fact that there isn’t any room for error for either team. The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics took part Saturday night in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. It was a compelling match-up and an excellent game, but Miami pulled away towards the end, winning 101-88 and earning their second straight trip to the NBA Finals.
LeBron James was clearly the best player on the floor during this entire series. However, in this final game it was Chris Bosh who really proved to be the difference. CB continued to take up space in the paint on defense, as well as pull Kevin Garnett away from the basket when Miami was on offense. Bosh had done this the last couple of games since coming back from injury, but the difference in Game 7 is that he was even better and put up numbers to back it up. The guy went 3-4 from the 3pt arc while shooting 8-10 overall. He would up with 19 points and 8 rebounds, and many of those boards came in the fourth quarter as Miami was putting together a 20-6 run that they would end the game on.
The Heat also had something on Saturday night that they often struggle to find; balance. In addition to Bosh, Miami got significant contributions from Mario Chalmers, Udonis Haslem, and Shane Battier.
LeBron had another excellent game, and Dwyane Wade had his usual strong second half, which is starting to look like it’s a formula of some sort. Plenty of credit needs to go to the Celtic’s D, which really tried to take DWade out of the game and during the early parts of games he has remained patient. The good news is that Miami will probably never have to face THIS Boston team again, as they look to rebuild in Beantown.
The bad news for the Heat is that they have to travel to Oklahoma City to take on the Thunder on Tuesday in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. OKC is younger, faster, and much more athletic than the Celtics. They have stars to rival James and Wade in Durant and Westbrook. The Thunder also have a guy like Serge Ibaka that Miami doesn’t have an answer for. James Harden is also going to present some big-time issues for the Heat defense. So while it is exciting for Miami and their fans, LeBron and Co. have their work cut out for them.
