Rays Look to Stay Hot against Mets

The Tampa Bay Rays (35-25) are in a four-game winning streak, and look to keep things rolling in a three-game home series against the New York Mets (32-29).
After losing back-to-back games against the New York Yankees last week, scoring just one run in those two games combined, the Rays’ offense has heated up. They beat the Yankees 7-3 last Thursday to avoid the sweep, then went into Miami and swept the Marlins over the weekend by scores of 5-1, 13-4, and 4-2.
During this streak, Ben Zobrist has been the team’s hottest hitter, going 8-15 with 2 home runs, 4 BB’s, 6 RBI’s, and 6 runs scored in the four games. The Rays’ two catchers, Jose Lobaton and Jose Molina, have combined to go 6-15 with 2 BB’s and 4 RBI’s. The best pitching performance during this stretch came yesterday, when James Shields held the Marlins to 1 ER in 6.1 innings, allowing 4 hits (all of which were doubles) while picking up 5 K’s and 3 BB’s.
The first two games in the upcoming series are both set to start at 7:10 ET, while the game on Thursday will begin at 1:10 ET. The probable pitching matchups are Chris Young (0-0, 3.60 ERA) v. Alex Cobb (2-2, 4.13 ERA) tomorrow, R.A. Dickey (9-1, 2.44 ERA) v. David Price (8-3, 2.40 ERA) on Wednesday, and Johan Santana (3-3, 2.96 ERA) v. Jeremy Hellickson (4-2, 2.65 ERA) on Thursday. The Mets will be trying to recover after getting swept by the Yankees.
