Braves End Losing Streak

Just got back from the Ted where I watched the Braves play the Orioles. No, I wasn’t in the press box, but I was in section 310. (It’s right near the box, so if I close my eyes I could pretend I was in the box). Anyway, Atlanta used two home runs to beat Baltimore, 4-2. Brian McCann hit a solo shot in the first and Andrelton Simmons provided the go-ahead runs with his second career home run in the sixth. (An insurance run came in a little later, when Michael Bourn knocked in pinch-hitter Jack Wilson, who tripled. Tommy Hanson started and was a little wild. He walked six. Baltimore got their two runs in the fourth. I didn’t see how. I was in the club section, and was in the food line in the back of the concourse. (By the way, the pasta bar may be good, but they take way too long and give you so much you’ll never get through it, or feel bloated if you do.) Hanson didn’t factor in the decision. He was pulled in the top of the frame. Chad Durbin gets credit for the W, and O starter Brian Matusz takes the loss. Craig Kimbrel allowed a hit in the ninth, but recorded his 19th save. All in all, it was a good way for the Braves to forget about the Yankee sweep. Washington lost earlier, so the Braves are now within 4. Random note: Martin Prado started at first for Freddy Freeman. He’s been out since Tuesday with a sore left hand. Manager Fredi Gonzalez hoped three days rest (an off day on Tuesday) would help with the recovery. Except Freddy to be back in the lineup tomorrow.
