Texans ink coach and GM to new deals

After the Texans had their best season in franchise history, as you would proabably expect, the coach and GM get new contracts. Texans coach Gary Kubiak gets a new 3-year deal which will keep him with the team through 2014. Kubiak has gone 47-49 in 6 seasons as Texans head coach. Only 2 of those 6 seasons have resulted in a winning record, but the Texans have come a long way since Kubiak took over. How much credit should he actually get for that? We will soon find out. Over the past few season some fans have been saying Kubiak needs to go but after last season those talks went to rest. Now will all the high expectations, how will this team fair?  This will probably be Kubiak’s biggest season as a coach, and the season that most Texans fans will always remember regardless of its’ good or bad simply because of all the expectations.

General Manager Rick Smith gets a 4-year extension which will keep him with the team through 2016. Rick Smith has drafted very well over the past 3 years and a that’s a big reason for the Texan’s lastest success, and whether its fair or not the GM normally gets the bulk of the credit for draft picks even though there is more to it than the GM making the decision. Regardless, Texans Owner Bob McNair wanted to keep these two here for at least 3 more seasons as the Texans try to reach the ultimate goal of every NFL, a championship.
