Brewers lose marathon game versus Twins

The Milwaukee Brewers traveled to Minneapolis to face the Minnesota Twins this past weekend. After taking the first two games 5-3 and 6-2 the Brewers went for the sweep on Sunday afternoon.
The Brewers’ Corey Hart hit a 3-run homer in the 5th to give Milwaukee a 4-1 lead. Brewers’ starting pitcher Zach Greinke seemed in control the whole game until the 7th. The Twins used four consecutive singles by Jamey Carroll, Denard Span, Ben Revere, and Joe Mauer to tie the game at 4. That score held up until the bottom of the 15th inning when Denard Span singled to score Brian Dozier in walk-off fashion as the Twins won the game 5-4.
Nineteen of the Twins twenty hits in the game were singles while Milwaukee racked up 15 hits in a game that was delayed 42 minutes by a rain delay. Both bull pens pitched extremely well. The Brewers pen pitched 6 scoreless innings before Tim Dillard gave up several singles in the 15th to wind up with the loss. The Twins bullpen pitched 9 scoreless innings and Anthony Swarzak was awarded the win. Twins All-Star catcher Joe Mauer left the game in the 7th with a bruised quadriceps as well.
The up and down season of the Brewers seemed like it was headed on a down slide after being swept by the Royals in Kansas City as their bullpen seemed to fall apart all three games. After taking two of three against the Twins who knows what to expect as they host Toronto starting tonight in Milwaukee. Randy Wolf goes up against Henderson Alvarez tonight as the Brewers (30-36) look to bounce back against the Blue Jays (34-32).
