England won Group D today with a 1-0 victory over Ukraine. Ukraine played very well and controlled the game for long periods of time, but England's Wayne Rooney scored in the opening stages of the 2nd half to allow England to advance. Rooney, who suited up for the first time in the tournament due to a two game suspension earned during qualifying, scored on a back post header in the 48th minute....

CC Sabathia struck out 10 Atlanta Braves and threw a seven-hit complete game to lead the New York Yankees franchise to its first double-digit winning streak since 2005. Sabathia's (9-3) latest complete game totals 34 for his career and his first of the 2012 season.
