He has been called “King James”.  He has also been called a choker.  Before he ever set foot on an NBA court, he graced the cover of Sports Illustrated.  ”The Chosen One” was the headline, and some have called him “The Frozen One” when talking about his failures as a professional.  LeBron James was and is the single most hyped athlete we have ever seen, and now he stands at the precipice of his dream, an NBA Title.  Tonight, a victory against the Thunder will crown(finally) James, along with the rest of the Miami Heat, NBA Champions.

These 2012 Finals have been by far LeBron’s best.  Coming in to this series, he had never scored over 25 points in an NBA Finals game.  Against OKC, 26 points has been his lowest single game output.  But it’s not just about numbers this year.  James’ demeanor has been completely different than it was in past seasons, both in Miami and when he was in Cleveland.  I don’t know if it comes down to having friends he trusts like Dwyane and Chris as teammates, or if he just finally figured out that not everybody is going to like him, and that’s ok.  He has shown a poise and a discipline that simply wasn’t there against Dallas in last year’s Finals.  Bron has always had the physical gifts to be the best, now it seems as though he has grasped the mental side of the game as well.

Of course, all of this progress will be meaningless if the Heat lose Game 5 tonight.  The Heat do not want to go back to Oklahoma City.  Period.  Tonight is the single biggest game of LeBron James’ life, and we’re talking about a guy who has played plenty of big games.  OKC is going to come out very hard and they will be looking to keep him out of the paint, where he has been torching the Thunder for over 15 points a game.  Wade has also been spending plenty of time close to the basket, and the only way OKC has a chance is to keep the Heat’s dynamic duo on the perimeter.

So here it is LeBron.  King James can finally wear a real crown.  All you have to do is play one game at your highest level.  You will not only be an NBA Champion, but a Final’s MVP as well.  There will still be plenty of people that will dislike you, maybe even hate you.  That’s ok.  Their arguments will be empty ones and the only noise that will matter is silence.
