New York Rangers Draft Could Feature Trade

Posted By Eric O'Connell On Jun 21 2012 @ 3:37 pm In New York Rangers | No Comments

The first round of the NHL Entry Draft is set for tomorrow night in Pittsburgh. While the NHL draft is not quite on the same plane of interest as the NFL draft or even the NBA draft, this year could be an exception. One reason of course is the level of talent of this draft class which many experts agree has a plethora of potential. Secondly, overall ratings this postseason were WAY up for the NHL, especially the early rounds. In theory this could lead to more attention to the draft. And lastly Columbus, Anaheim, Chicago, Vancouver, and other teams are all said to be considering trading big name players this offseason. Any trades would be made between today and tomorrow as teams would like to have a first pick included in a package.
For the RangersĀ  specifically, reports are out indicating a strong interest in Rick Nash and more quietly, Bobby Ryan. If a deal is to be made with either of these players expect it to be coming soon.

Also of note to Ranger’s fans is that in last nights NHL award ceremony Henrik Lundqvist won the Vezina Trophy as the best goaltender in the league. It’s a very deserved award for the King as he had a remarkable season in net.

Lastly, thank you to all who read my first post and especially those who commented! Feedback is always appreciated and I look forward to more of it.
I’ll be back after tomorrows first round to discuss how the Rangers have done.
