Marlins Featured in New Uncut TV Show “The Franchise” on Showtime

The Miami Marlins are going to be featured in a weekly “all-access” television show on Showtime that will follow the team, on and off the field, throughout the 2012 season. The timing for this show could not be better. The club has a new (crazy) manager, multiple new big name players, and a brand new stadium. The team also has several personalities, so it should make for some good viewing.

If not for anything else, anyone should be interested in watching this show for the inevitable tirades in the clubhouse by manager Ozzie Guillen. That will surely be instant entertainment, as no one ever knows what’s going to come out of his mouth.

The concept of a behind the scenes TV show that follows a professional team has more notably been used in HBO’s “Hard Knocks” series’ which follows NFL teams each year during training camp. These programs give fans a close-up look at the true life of the every-day athlete, taking away some of the glamour by displaying the ups and downs that these squads go through on a weekly basis.

“The Franchise” will air every Wednesday at 10 PM on Showtime. While this is not part of any basic cable package, you are a fool if you have Showtime and do not tune in to this show this summer. There is nothing like uncut, behind the scenes footage when anything can, and will happen.

Take a look at the trailer below for a closer look at what to expect from the television series.
