More Trouble For Dez

Posted By David Willow On Jul 17 2012 @ 1:24 pm In Dallas Cowboys | 4 Comments

Another off-season has led to another off the field issue for Dez Bryant. He was arrested for what is being reported as a domestic assault against his mother, and is charged with a Class A family violence charge. Mixed reports have said Bryant’s mother with bruises, along with pain and swelling on her face. Though not a felony and no conviction as of yet, Bryant could now be subject to league action, leaving the possibility of a suspension this season.

This comes at a terrible time for Bryant and the Cowboys who are gearing up for training camp, and what many believe could be a breakout season for Dez. Bryant, who has a history littered with off the field problems, continues to poison his career. It is important to note that this is Bryant’s first arrest, and most of the issues he has experienced have been more about confrontations and money issues. This doesn’t excuse his lack of maturity, but it does warrant a measure perspective. His problems could continue to evolve into bigger issues, or perhaps the Cowboys organization will take the reigns and save Bryant from himself.

It would be advisable for the Cowboys to have a life coach or someone of that nature to intervene. Maybe even counseling could help Bryant. There is little doubt of the perennial talent that Dez has
as a player, but if nothing is done it is quite plausible we will be looking at what Dez Bryant’s career could have been.

Over the past 2 seasons, he has shown flashes of being a top 5 receiver in the league which lead many to believe he could make the leap this season, and after an off-season of positive reports this could greatly slow down the development of one of the team’s most promising players. For those who are fans it comes as a great disappointment and for the naysayers it’s “I told you so” time.
