To say that Bills players are impressed with their newest teammate Mario Williams is an understatement. During a play at camp, Fitzpatrick barely go the ball handed off to Jackson when he was abruptly met by Super Mario. Jackson joked and said “I think Mario could’ve taken the handoff before I did.” Even big man Marcell Dareus had this to say about Williams, ”He has to be the strongest guy I’ve ever met in my life, phenomenal football player, hands, feet. It’s crazy. We’re going to have fun this year, hee, hee, hee.”
This gets me excited for 2 reasons:
- This revamped defense could contended with one of the best in the league. Not only has Mario impressed others but Buffalo’s first pick Stephon Gilmore is also leaving first good impressions. Stevie Johnson told reporters ”I don’t know how to say it, but he’s up there with some of the DBs in the league who’ve been playing for a couple of years, and he hasn’t even played one play. Really, I don’t want to speak too highly, but it’s hard to not speak highly of somebody that can play as well as he has from rookie minicamp all the way up until now.
- The Bills won’t have to rely solely on offense to win games. You had the sense last year that the Bills could only win games if they had last ball. I’m hoping with this new look defense that the Buffalo will be able sack more, create turnovers and give the ball back to the offense in good field position.
