ROMULUS — The boss at the News Group Gathering Office located inside the Metro Airport Business Complex has decided that the office and the work space of Uncle Mel’s need some serious renovation-walls painted, new carpet and new office furniture.
The boss says he is not wasting any money for any type of style!
Uncle Mel says, “Umm. Oh yeah!”
It just means that Uncle Mel’s time in the office and watching the Olympic Games is cut off for a while and he is resuming a hard workday of sweating for the boss person.
In the city of Ypsilanti, on the campus of Eastern Michigan University and inside the plush fort known as the Office of Athletic Department and in the area where the basketball offices are located just a couple of feet from a security camera and a security officer, the new Eastern Michigan University Women’s basketball coach Troy Verdi stands in front of his office window and looks across the Huron River with confirmation of two new basketball players will be arriving to join the Eagles 2012-13 woman’s basketball season.
Verdi announced Thursday August 2, 2012 that Denaya Brazzle and Bianca Cage have agreed to play basketball at Eastern Michigan University.
Brazzle is a transfer student-athlete from the ranks of the junior college, she played last season at Chipola College located in Marianne, Florida. Last season Brazzle averaged 7.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 assist for Chipola College.
Brazzle helped her high school team the Jefferson High School Diplomats in Portland, Oregon win a state title in 2010, her senior year.
“Denaya is a strong guard who can play multiple position,” Verdi said about the 5-foot 6-inch Brazzle. “We expect her to bring experience into the backcourt.”
Cage is a 5-foot 8 guard from Memphis, Tennessee where she attended and graduated from Southwind High School, she is a member of the 1,000-point club and is a standout in track running in the 4 x 100-meter relay team.
Cage’s senior year she scored 19.8 points and shot 38 percent from beyond the three point arc
“Bianca is a true scoring guard,” Verdi said about his new guard. “She has the ability to score in so many ways. When is all said and done, I know Bianca is going to have a special career at EMU.”
Under the watchful eye of the security posted at the door, Uncle Mel left the fortress and returned to the official News Group Gathering Vehicle parked in the Eastern Michigan University’s parking lot.
The trip back to the News Group Gathering office building, Uncle Mel dodged the official state barrel of the state of Michigan and arrived in time to watch the first phase of the renovation project moving forward.
Uncle Mel looked at the mess on the walls, on the floors and listen to the interior decorator arguing with the boss so your old Uncle Mel found the backdoor located just off of the loading dock and he slipped back into the official news vehicle and headed for home.
