Packers Preseason Panic

Most of my readers will know I am quite the person to have panic and stress over things, in all honesty, I probably shouldn’t, but it’s how I am.
So naturally many of you will think the way the Packers have started their preseason is something of which to cause me panic, well, you’re wrong. It’s the preseason folks!
Remember a couple years back when those Detroit Lions went 4-0 in the preseason? Remember when that same year they finished 0-16? Oh, yeah! I remember!
The preseason is meaningless when it comes to the outcome of the game. It’s all about judging individual talent and players fighting for spots.
Now am I saying the Packers shouldn’t be concerned at all, no I’m not. Cause there are some things that are certainly issues with the team. There are three of them which really stand out.
First, the injury to linebacker Desmond Bishop is a huge blow to the Packers defense that last year struggled with him starting. Now take out the leading tackler and the guy who seems to make plays. It hurts and it is the most concerning thing to the Packers Nation, not the score of their game against the Browns.
Second, is the backup quarterback situation. Graham Harrell has done nothing to show me he can be an NFL backup. His arm strength lacks, he makes poor reads and to be honest, he never looks comfortable. He can scramble, but there is my short list of positives for him. If anything happens to Aaron Rodgers the Packers can go from a 10-13 win team to about a 4-6 win team. Hope that is not the case.
Third and final is the running back situation. The position has been plagued by injuries and even with the signing of Cedric Benson, there are still lots of questions to be answered. James Starks cannot stay on field, Alex Green has a snap count and Brandon Saine is an undrafted second year player who hasn’t proven anything in the league. Even Benson at his older age is a question mark. It will be interesting to watch through out the rest of preseason and the beginning of the year.
So while I’ve named things to be concerned about, there is no need for panic Packers fans. We have Rodgers and company and a team which went 15-1 last year. Be concerned about areas, but not the whole team. Preseason panic is as meaningful as the games they are playing right now.
