I am a die hard Longhorn fan. Been bleeding burnt orange for as long as can I remember. I have great memories of Darrell Royals coaching those great teams in the 60′s and 70′s. I enjoyed watching older players such as Earl Campbell and the Jones boys. I really got a kick out of watching Ricky Williams run the ball and the Great Vince Young lead his team to the National Championship.
Well, its time for the 2012 Longhorn team. Pre-season polls have them ranked in the top 20’s. Very young team played a lot of Freshmen last year and have only two starting Seniors on defensive. For starters the secondary may be the best in the country, lead by Q. Diggs. The defensive line in very good, especially the ends, Okafor pre-season All-American candidate and up and coming Jeffcoat.
If Texas can decide on a Quarterback between Ash and McCoy, this may be one of the best offensives in the country. They have three great running backs in Malcom Brown, Joe Bergeron and freshmen Johnathan Gray. They have a very talented receiving group in Goodwin,Magic Davis and Shipley. The questions going to lie on the line if they can open holes and protect the Quarterbacks this team may finish in the top 10.
Texas has very tough schedule this year. September 29th, they have Oklahoma State on the road. Texas has lost to them the last three years. December 1st, they finish the regular season against Kansas State which the lost to last year. They also play two new teams to the conference TCU and West Virginia. I personally see West Virginia possibly winning the conference with that very good Quarterback in Geno Smith. And of course the Red River battle against Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl in October. Oklahoma is ranked pretty high in pre-season polls
