Every single Texans’ fan is ready for the regular season and after watching the game last night you can’t blame them! This team has a chance to really go far into the playoffs and bring smiles to thousands of fans faces while shocking the football world.
Matt Schaub look amazing last night going 15-18 194 yards and a TD. If he continues to play like that all year long I don’t know how teams will stop this offense. Arian Foster looked good nothing really spectacular but when you only have 8 carries you shouldn’t expect anything spectacular. The Texans’ TE looked supurb last night, although most of that was because of Schaub picking apart the Saints’ defense. I also think the Saints were focusing on stopping Andre Johnson and Foster so that opened up the middle of the field. This offense looked really really scary and defensive coordinators are going to have their hands full when gameplanning for the Texans this season. As long as this team can stay healthy this could be the best offense in the NFL this season.
Wade Philips said Drew Brees is “the all-tme best passer in the history of the NFL”. Well regardless of how far fetched you think that is or not, Brees and the Saints offense was impressive last night. Brees went 17-25 179 yards and 2 TD’s. The Texans defense only got one sack last night, and it wasn’t even on Drew Brees. Yes the team had a lot of guys out and Wade probably didn’t blitz as much as normal because its the preseason but one sack won’t get it done versus anyone in the NFL. The Texans ability to pressure the QB last season was the biggest reason for their success on defense and that needs to continue this season.
Overall, this team looked very good and they just continues to build up the hype in Houston. This should be one exciting season for the Texans. I know its the preseason and coaches often times try guys out in different positions and the gameplans are different, I get all that. However, 5 fumbles last night has to be a cause for concern, and they lost 3 of them. I’m sure it is something the coaches will address but Texans’ fans everywhere are hoping that it is something that doesn’t carry over into the regular season. Good news for the Saints though, it seems like they have finally done something right and put the “bounty” on the football instead of the players.
