Last night in San Francisco Peyton Manning hit paydirt for the first time this preseason, throwing two touchdowns in a 29-24 loss to the 49ers. Peyton struggled in Denver’s previous games, but In the most important game of the preseason Manning was sharp. Peyton went 10/12, threw for 122 yards and those two touchdowns while posting an outstanding quarterback rating of 148. Manning led three scoring drives while on the field, and spotted Denver a 17-0 lead. “I thought we did some good things today” said Manning. “We moved the ball pretty well and we got two touchdowns.” Eric Decker was on the receiving ends of those two scores, hauling in TD passes of 10 and 5 yards, while Joel Dressen finished out the scoring for Denver. The Broncos struggled on the ground, averaging a paltry 3.2 yards per carry against a stout 49ers run defense. Denver’s starters defense fared well against San Francisco’s staring offense, however they did give up a 44 yard scoring strike to Vernon Davis. The Broncos finish up their preseason Thursday night in Arizona against the Cardinals.
