Just when we thought the Jets’ locker room was coming together Santonio Holmes goes and runs his mouth.
Earlier this week the receiver said that Mark Sanchez was surprised when he found out the team had traded for Tim Tebow this offseason.
From the outside looking in it doesn’t seem as if Sanchez is bothered and in fact he has said the two quarterbacks are getting along great. So is this just Holmes being Holmes? Last season it was made public that he was a huge problem in the locker room. The Jets cannot afford that to happen again this season. Holmes is pretty much the only proven receiver on the roster and for them to have success throwing downfield he’ll need to be on the same page as Sanchez.
Now comes the moment of truth. The Buffalo Bills are coming to town for the season opener.
Both teams play tough defense, so it’s going to be a grind it out kind of game. It’s definitely important that Sanchez builds his confidence up with early success, but you’re gonna see a lot of Shonn Greene, and on occasion Bilal Powell, pounding it up the gut.
The wildcat offense led by Tebow will also be on display come Sunday. It’s going to be interesting to see how Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Tony Sparano work the offensive scheme into their gameplan. Will it mess with Sanchez’s rhythm? Add some energy to the offense? Or be a complete distraction? These are all questions that will hopefully be answered on Sunday.
I don’t really see either team’s offense exploding and it’ll come down to who makes the least amount of mistakes. At the end of the day I see the home team taking care of business.
Final Score: Jets 17 Bills 13
