Oakland vs. Miami: Preview

The Oakland Raiders travel to the eastern time zone to take on the Miami Dolphins. Miami has won six of the last seven games in this series. It’s like one of those anomalies I can’t seem to figure out. Oakland has been more talented in recent years, and still can’t seem to conquer the pesky Dolphins.
Head coach Bruce Allen, looks to put the Raiders recent woes against Miami in the past, and improve their overall play from week to week. Oakland racked up yards against San Diego last week, and held them to just one touchdown (out of five trips to the redzone for the Chargers), but their unforeseen special teams miscues, and inability to score touchdowns on offense eventually cost them the game.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Raiders will get their biggest vertical threat back on the field, in Denarius Moore. Moore looked great in practice, and besides some minor conditioning issues, and getting use to game speed, he will be an added and much need weapon on offense. Hopefully his presence will open up things in the running game. Offense coordinator, Greg Knapp, must do a better job of establishing the run, and stretching the field. If the Raiders can get running back, Darren McFadden rolling early, along with letting their wide receivers make plays on the perimeter, they should have a better out-put on offense in week 2.
The defense contained a top-ten quarterback in Phillip Rivers last week, so there is no need to see why they shouldn’t be able to disrupt, and fluster Dolphins rookie quarterback, Ryan Tannehill all Sunday afternoon. They also need to keep an eye out for all-purpose running back, Reggie Bush. If they put on a performance similar to Monday night’s effort, then they should dominate this Miami offense.
Allen leads the “Silver and Black” into week 2 battle, and looks to lead the Raiders to their first victory of the season. It will be interesting to see what kind of adjustments will be made, and if the Raiders will have short-term memory after their tough loss to San Diego, six days earlier. For Allen, he needs to establish a new brand of culture with the Raiders, and a solid outing against an inferior team, maybe just what the doctor ordered. Hopefully, Raider Nation will be singing his praises Sunday afternoon, rather than questioning the identity of this years Raiders.
