Highs and Lows To Begin Another Cowboys Season

Some fans might call it baffling to see the Cowboys defeat the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants, only to watch them lose the Seattle Seahawks. However, to some it is just another start to an up and down Cowboys season.
Were it a close victory then you might be able to argue that you win some and you lose some, but the Cowboys were dominated physically, which supports the label that the team is soft at times. It was a theme denoted by the physical running if Marshawn Lynch who tallied 122 yards and a touchdown on the day. Russell Wilson was sharper than his stats would indicate, leading a 90 yard drive that would put the game well out of reach for the Cowboys.
The game quite possibly could have been stamped by the hit that wide receiver Golden Tate had on linebacker Sean Lee which was a devastating hit and maybe one of the more memorable hits this weekend. It should be noted that it should be considered an illegal hit as he clearly led and hit with his helmet into the chest of Sean Lee, who by league rules should be considered defenseless, and the play was followed up by a ticky-tack late hit call on Russell Wilson and against the Cowboys. Whether Tate is fined by the league will be up to the league, and regardless of what the league does the hit had no bearing on whether or not the team won or lost.
Felix Jones had an early fumble that led to a field goal and the Seahawks blocked a punt early on in the game to take a 10-0 lead. The Cowboys were unable to muster more than one solid drive for their only score of the game, which was a 22 yard pass to Miles Austin in the second quarter. DeMarco Murray was held to 44 yards on 12 carries was somewhat ineffective after the Cowboys went into comeback mode. Dez Bryant was largely invisible as he often becomes during games where Dallas needs him to come up big.
Many are left wondering again just who the Cowboys are. Are they the same team they were over the last few seasons that can win some games, but just not the ones they’re expected to win? Or are they a team that can learn from their mistakes and get better? We’ll just have to wait and see.
