Jets Struggle Against Steelers

It’s like night and day. In one week the New York Jets’ offense went from dominant to uninspiring.
They got off to a good start. Mark Sanchez led two long first-half drives, 90 and 61 yards, and they even had the lead at one point, but the second half was a completely different story.
There was no way Ben Roethlisberger was going to let the Pittsburgh Steelers fall to 0-2. The gunslinger has clearly figured out Todd Haley’s offense and was able to have his way with the Jets’ secondary in a 27-10 victory.
The defense definitely could’ve used the help of superstar Darrelle Revis. Without him suited up the Jets allowed Roethlisberger to complete passes to 10 different receivers and earn a passer rating of 125.1.
The dagger came in the third quarter when Mike Wallace, who was covered by Antonio Cromartie, went up and caught a 37-yard pass in the end zone. That made the score 20-10 and the Jets weren’t able to do much offensively the rest of the game.
It’s tough to score points when your offense only has the ball for about 23 minutes. The Steelers controlled the ball throughout the entire game, so the Jets needed to make do with what they had and they did not. Sanchez finished the day going 10 for 27 with 138 yards and the rushing attack wasn’t any better. Bilal Powell led the team with 33 yards on nine carries, Shonn Greene ran the ball 11 times for 23 yards, and Tim Tebow chipped in with a 22-yard run.
Give credit to the Steelers’ defense. Even without two of their star players, Troy Polamalu and James Harrison, they proved why they’re one of the best units in the league.
It’s a little disheartening to see the Jets take a step back, but I guess you can’t lead the league in points every week.
