Redskins Fall to Rams

Before I can write about this blog, I have to rant about the replacement refs.  Each game I watched yesterday was a gong show with refs making calls, and then getting it discussed, no one knew where to place the ball after calls, just pathetic.  Even worse were the calls NOT being made.  Interference, holding and face
masks were being totally ignored.  This would have made so many changes to the scores yesterday and for sure with the Redskins game.  I really don’t care what the issues the refs have with the NFL but it’s not working and it must end.  NOW.

So enough with my rant.  The Redskins lost 31-28 in what should have ended with a fairly easy FG but Josh Morgan made a stupid mistake and tossed the ball after he caught it at a Rams player taking a personal foul call and forcing Cundiff to a 62 yarder.  Mike Shanahan, knowing that 62 yards was impossible, could have given his Quarterback the last chance as that would have been more of a possibility to get 16 yards versus an impossible field goal.

The Rams first possession ended with forced fumble and recovery by the Redskins and Josh Wilson ran it in for a TD.  The defense for the Redskins did have some great plays, but allowed 310 passing and 151 rushing yards and 3 TDs.  That’s not good.  There were wide open receivers for the Rams.

More firsts for RG3:  He recorded his first interception AND personally ran in for 2 TDs.  He did a lot of running and a lot of falling.  He was hit, smacked but still managed to keep it together.  He threw a cannon to Leonard Hankerson in the 2nd for 68 yards and a TD.  With what also could have been the point that kept the Skins from losing was when the Rams went for a FG with seconds left in the 1st half, Shanahan deciding to take a timeout to try and frazzle the kicker but it did the opposite.  The 1st kick was no good and the 2nd was.  Nice call Mike.

I have to give props to London Fletcher.  He was incorrectly called on a hit out of bounds in the 1st quarter, intercepted a Bradford pass in the end zone, was hit while down in a cheap shot by the Rams (of course no flag) in the 4th quarter then the next play he strips the ball and gets  the Redskins the ball back.  This guy is my hero.
